Artist Type Professional
My current art practice is created on my iPad using the application Procreate. I have recently been focused on the ever changing nature of the Fairy Creek lagoon at North Wollongong.
For over forty years I have created abstract paintings, but a few years ago I felt the need to get back to basics. Consequently, I have been producing landscape paintings and portraits. I have been experimenting with digital applications on my iPad and the series of paintings presented here have been produced using Procreate.
Nearly every day I walk past Fairy Creek Lagoon at North Wollongong beach and marvel at the changes that nature forces on the landscape. This series of paintings document some of these changes and highlights the ephemeral nature of the landscape.
I have been involved in art and art education for over fifty years. I was born in the UK and went to Art School and then Teacher Training College there. I taught art in high schools in England and New Zealand, and for twelve years was a senior lecturer at Auckland University of Technology. In 1997 my wife and I came to Australia to engage in some post graduate education. Subsequently, I completed a MA(Hons) at the University of Western Sydney and the in 2003 a Doctorate of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong. I have held over thirty solo exhibitions an been involved with many group shows.
