Artist profile

Location Wingecarribee Southern Highlands

Artist Type Professional

My work is mixed media paintings, printmaking in lithography, etching and collagraph. Works are generally semi abstract with a lyrical quality relating to the natural environment displaying the importance of line and composition.

  • About

My work has evolved through experimentation in botanical illustration, watercolour, oils, mixed media and printmaking. My mixed media work is built up by multi layering collage materials, acrylic paint, inks and pastels creating different surface textures and techniques.

My inspiration comes from the natural world -both in flowers and landscape - from realism to abstraction. I like to create works with a painterly effect drawing on the very essence of the subject without being tied down by traditional approaches, always paying attention to line and the necessity of understanding the importance of drawing and expressive mark making within the artwork.

  • Biography

Born in Grafton NSW, and now a resident of the Southern Highlands. After having an international career in finance and stockbroking I decided to change direction and follow my passion. After further study I developed a successful art practice which has prospered for almost 30 years - working in Botanical Illustration, watercolour, oil, acrylics, pastels, mixed media and printmaking.

During this time I have exhibited and taught artists' classes and workshops in Brisbane, Southern Highlands throughout rural Australia and Italy.
