About
Elizabeth's art shows how everyday objects are rendered using traditional techniques and a tonal palate. She is keen to explore the relationship of objects to each other and how light falls onto them. Tonality is the quality of a tone, the combination of colours used in a painting, or how the tones of a musical composition are combined. In art, tone refers to the degree of lightness or darkness of an area. Tone varies from the bright white of a light source through shades of grey to the deepest black shadows. Using tonality in a painting, the artist does not need the use a wide range of colours and the use of tonality achieves a restful and unified paintings.
