Danish born Australian artist with a preference for abstract expression through painting, mixed media and .
The abstract expressionist movement has had a major influence on my approach to art. It has supported my urge to create freely, exploring the process of creation itself, rather than aiming for a premeditated outcome. My interest in psychology has contributed to the reflective aspects of my practice and continues to play an important role in the narrative of my art.

About
I have a preference for abstract expression through acrylic painting and mixed media. I let the colours, textures and brush strokes guide me and continue to develop my trust in the process itself and explore the unfolding of the unknown with great curiosity.
I work in a broad variety of sizes and mediums and welcome commissions as well. Please contact me to enquire about viewing and commissions, and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter on my website and like Art by Backhausen on Facebook to keep updated on new works and exhibitions.

Biography
To me, my art is freedom. It’s a way of giving the subconscious a voice without the restrictions and demands of the mind. It enriches life; with untold stories, colourful quests and a place to let go.
My mediums include synthetic polymer paintings on canvas, mixed media, collagraph prints and mixed media on paper and board, as well as assemblage art. I furthermore run art workshops and is a co-founder and Director of Fern Street Gallery in Gerringong.
I continue to be selected for art prizes and enjoy an ever evolving career.
