Artist TypeProfessional

Figurative and semi-abstract contemporary oil painting. Moody, offbeat, and ambiguous.

  • About

Although I paint from life and do lots of life drawing, my studio paintings derive from my photographic images. My visual aesthetics were formed by film and photography. I emphasize uncanny views through the lens. That's where I often start from, but then the brushstrokes take over and I depart from documentary reality.

  • Biography

I'm a practicing artist: painting, drawing, and photography. I exhibit regularly and sometimes win awards.

I have a BFA (film) from NYU, an MA (humanities) from University of Chicago, and a BFA Hons (painting) from the National Art School. I have earned a living as a photographer, film editor, radio producer, journalist, writer, editor, and university lecturer.

Currently, I am member of the Kiama Council Cultural Board.
