I enjoy working with a wide array of materials such as silver, porcelain and wax - creating jewellery & small artworks. In addition to exhibiting new work regularly, Zara is an independant curator, focused on contemporary craft.

  • About

    The process of transformation is at the crux of Zara Collins contemporary practice. Her work is bound together by ideas of reinterpretation, appropriation and reinvention. A variety of techniques, processes and styles are utilised to create her unique artworks, objects and jewellery. Currently focusing on developing her skills in ceramics and experimenting with oil painting and wax. In addition to exhibiting new work regularly, Zara is an independent curator, specialising in Australian contemporary craft.

  • Biography

    Zara is an inter-disciplinary artist who has participated in over 200 exhibitions since 1999. Selected as a finalist in prestigious awards including Talente 2004 - Germany, Young Glass 2007 – Denmark, Ranamok Glass Prize 2001 & 2007; Contemporary Wearables 2001, 2015 & 2017 and Gold Coast International Ceramic Prize 2014. Zara won First Prize at the GAS International Student Award in 2000 in New York City. Her artworks are held in the Alex McKay Collection and the Manning Regional Gallery Collection. Zara recently completed a residency in the Dorothy Dwyer Studio at Bundanon Trust in 2019 which has been a career hi-light.
